The Crisis
Suicide rates have skyrocketed in recent years, making it a true public health epidemic. It is now the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10–24, and most of those deaths were preventable.
REIGN's Suicide Awareness program doesn't shy away from the hard truths. We address common motivations, warning signs, and practical steps to help someone in danger, while also tackling the role of bullying, social media, and identity struggles in youth suicide.
We give hope and solutions to those at risk, because the most important thing a teen can hear is: You matter. Your life matters. There is a way forward.

How They Feel
Suicide has become an epidemic among youth, ranking as the second leading cause of death for ages 10–24. Contributing factors include bullying, depression, social isolation, substance abuse, and identity struggles.
Warning signs include talking about death, withdrawing from loved ones, giving away possessions, sudden mood changes, and expressing hopelessness. Take any warning signs seriously and seek professional help immediately.
Ask directly: "Are you thinking about suicide?" Contrary to myth, asking does not plant the idea. Listen without judgment, express care, remove access to means, and connect them to professional support.
Bullying is a significant risk factor. Teens who experience bullying are at 2–9 times higher risk for suicidal thoughts. REIGN's program specifically addresses the connection between bullying and suicide risk.
